Wilton {Spoil Your Family Review + Giveaway #11}

When I approached Wilton for this event, I was excited to learn how to bake a cake. Yes, I said learn. This was my first experience EVER baking a cake. And I will be honest, it didn’t come out so hot. It didn’t look pretty. It didn’t taste good. I was so hilariously clueless that I should have vlogged the whole thing. It could have entertained the masses. All of this was no fault of Wilton. This was due to my lack of experience in the kitchen. Like I said, I am a beginner.
Wilton provided me with a 53 Piece Cake Decorating Set and a Dimensions Giant Cupcake Pan. This is the picture of the cake I made, which obviously wasn’t made with the Decorating Set.
I did so many things wrong. I didn’t line the pan with flour or cooking spray. I eyed the measurements when I made my icing, instead of actually measuring them. So the icing didn’t come out thick enough and I was unable to use the decorating kit. Yet, I still think it was an awesome first attempt. I do still plan on trying again…and again…and again until I get it right.
I always wanted to try out using a decorating kit. I watched my Aunt Maggie decorate so many cakes with her gigantic decorating kit as a child and it always looked like so much fun. Here is a brief description of the decorating set I received:
“The Works”. Decorate many advanced wedding, floral and basketweave cakes as well as basic cakes. Set includes: metal decorating tips 2, 3, 5, 7, 12, 16, 18, 21, 32, 48, 67, 101, 103, 104, 129, 225, 349 and 352; 24 disposable 12 in. decorating bags, two tip couplers, 5 icing colors (.5 oz. each): Golden Yellow, Moss Green, Rose Petal, Cornflower Blue, Violet; one 1 1/4 in. flower nail No. 9; 8 in. angled spatula; storage tray and a 40-page book: Cake Decorating Beginner’s Guide.
The Giant Cupcake Pan is a really unique shape and I loved learning with it. I plan to attempt making many more cakes in the future, now that I feel I have learned from my mistakes. I can’t wait to be able to make cakes that look like the one below. I have also included a brief description of the Dimensions Giant Cupcake Pan:
Creates a big 3-D giant cupcake for the whole party to share! Assemble top and bottom cake halves with a thin layer of icing. This giant cupcake pan is of professional weight and cast aluminum for exceptional detail. Premium non-stick surface for easy release and cleanup. Lifetime warranty.
15 1/2 in. x 8 1/4 in. x 3 3/4 in.; 10 cup capacity.
Thankfully, Wilton offers classes at my local Michaels and Hobby Lobby so I have the opportunity to learn with others. I think that would be a great way for me to go about this. If you are interested in taking classes offered by Wilton, you can search your area to find where you can take them here.

I want the spongbob squarepants pan
HEY – with EVERYTHING on that site, how did the comment before me take MY answer (even if she can’t spell )?! When I win the lottery, I’m going to buy EVERYTHING on their site. The Spongebob Squarepants pan is first on my list. The second thing on my list would be the newest yearbook. When my kids were little, I used to let them look through all my yearbooks and pick which cake I should make for their birthday. That ended after my daughter picked a Barbie doll cake with 130 roses!!! I’m really awful at roses!
